Now that Halloween is behind us many homeschooling parents are looking to incorporate Remembrance day (Le  Jour du Souvenir)  activities into their homeschooling or home learning units. I have listed some resources for activities and literature for the kids below.  Digital Reading From the Canadian government website , you can find a ton of information regarding both world wars along with lesson plan ideas. Activities for ages 8-11 , activities for ages 12-18 . Worksheets and Activities Teachers pay Teachers and Mieux Enseigner both have have several worksheets available, many are downloadable PDFs which are very inexpensive. David James Pallister  has free printable worksheet activities such as Remembrance day word searches, colouring pages and questions. La Pomme Vert  has information and worksheets for elementary students. Videos Mini TFO has some videos for elementary students. Are you looking for a community to join for  French for Homeschooling? Check out this Facebook Group. They have a great community for  Resources, Activities and Connections. Are your children going into JK/SK (Jardin/Marternelle)? A great way to teach French at this age is by reading and singing songs. I know, it sounds too easy but really. Trust me. 20 minutes of reading a day + teaching them  songs goes a long way at this age particular age.  Here is a pinterest board with tons of songs and rhymes for children and here is a French singing group for children . Wondering what books are age appropriate?  Robert Munsch . My daughter LOVES the animations, these books are easy to read if you are not super fluent in French and the stories are cute. In looking for French resources for older grades you might come across books labelled as  1re secondaire,  2e secondaire,  3e secondaire,  4e secondaire and 5e secondaire. This can be a little confusing if you are not used to how Quebec labels their grades so I put a conversion chart below. In Ontario, there are 4 options for learning French in government funded schools. We have  Core French, Extended French, French Immersion and Full French. The first 3 of these options is considered French as a Second Language and each of these options provides a different number of hours committed to French learning. If you are homeschooling, teaching French is more flexible. You get to decide how much French to teach and when to teach it. So, how do we, as parents, decide which option is best for us? Well.. if you are like me, we decide after dedicating about a billion hours into researching the topic. Well folks. I believe this could be considered by first ever blog post. For whatever reason, I thought this would be easy. Setting up a functional and easy to navigate layout was going to take me half an hour. Guess who overestimated her blogging skills (hint it was me).
